Latest 4.0 News Release

Sometimes it takes time, in this case it has taken quite a bit. We had to drag Paul Simpson back out of mothballs to get the update moving in a forward direction that was even worth mentioning. This is better news than it sounds since before we were not even past the decision making point of what kind of changes would be made. We took a heavy hit when we got nothing for our coding investment and had to start again with the leftovers of unfinished code from the previous programmer. Though there still is not a release date, trust me when I say that the changes will be more to everyone’s desires. The theme is going through a full bottoms-up overhaul in it’s functionality. The ever popular theme templates that have made Remix so exciting will remain as the themes primary benefit but how the theme works from a WordPress “Admin Panel” will change dramatically. There will be improvements beyond just the theme options panel in the dashboard but I am not at liberty to discuss them currently. As WordPress has evolved so have themes and the way they work. Though many themes work differently, there are certain trends and expectations that most people are gravitating toward. We have adopted many of these pseudo standards observed in many popular themes. I will be posting more later as info becomes more freely available to speak about. The mere fact that I have made this post gives me hope, so hang in there.

Stay posted, as we will when the time comes be looking for a few select people to serve themselves up as guinea pigs for our Beta testing. It is still early but we are definitely moving forward once again.

Great news! I think we all knew that you would work out a new release! Keep doing what you are all doing and know that alot of us out there are behind you!

Good luck and roll on V4.0!

Eric July 21, 2011

I’d love to be a tester. Please let me know when your at that stage.

Randy July 21, 2011

We will put you on the list. Thanks for your interest Eric!

Randy – I cannot tell you how many times over the past several months I’ve had to stifle the urge to ask for a news update (don’t make Randy mad, don’t make Randy mad, don’t make Randy mad!) so I am delighted to hear things are moving, at whatever speed, along. There are some pretty cool features in some of the other themes available, but I didn’t want to invest in any of them because I love the diversity of the Remix templates. I would love to be a Beta tester when the time comes. Thanks! Terrie

Randy July 27, 2011

You will be placed on the list Terri if you meet our minimal requirements which are . . . . You must be a Remix customer, and have at least one active site using WPRemix.
That’s it! You didn’t make me mad by the way :-) My skin is thicker than that. People just need to stop and think about things is all. Imagine the “are we there yet” question asked by everyone before I have any information to provide. I know it frustrates customers to not know what is going on, but imagine my frustration when I don’t have any more info than you do when you ask me what’s up.

Mike September 2, 2011

Randy! I’ve been with you guys for a long time. Just wanted to say thank you for staying the course. Look forward to the update and moving my remix site to WordPress 3.0+

Hope you are well
Mike

Will do, we keep all requests from people who ask.

I just purchased the developer version just about 10 minutes ago; I haven’t even downloaded it yet. I was happy before, but now that I know there will be an upgrade soon, that’s even better. I purchased Flexsqueeze about two months ago … I wasn’t happy with it so I decided to try the remix. So far there is only one template missing and I hope it will be included in the developers upgrade: a landing or sales page template with an attractive email capture form included, and perhaps with a few of those fancy sales funnel capabilities. Other than that… a built-in under construction redirect page, would also add a nice touch. But even if these are not included, Wp Remix wins hands down because of the built-in page layouts. With other themes what you get is a very pretty empty box. With Remix, however, both the box and the pages will have a professional quality finish, without having to hire a professional. And that makes all the difference for a webmaster does not know css, html or Photoshop.

Hello, what’s about international language ? is your theme multi language ?
best regards

Randy October 5, 2011

The new 4.0 version will be. Due out soon, but no actual date of availability, keep checking back or subscribe to our RSS feed to learn when it ready.

Randy October 5, 2011

It’s not about making me angry, it’s about my position relative to what I know at any given time.

I am not privy to when the actual release date is for the new Remix 4.0

, but I do promise you that there is a new version in the works, I have seen it. So remember that when people think I get angry for no reason it’s simply because I’m frustrated with not being able to give you the answer you deserve. It’s not a good feeling at all. And to make matters worse no one reads and continues to ask the same question over and over. I don’t know of many people who would not become upset with this particular scenario. Please stay subscribed to our RSS feed for the new release announcement when it happens.

Randy October 5, 2011

TEAM REMIX thanks you for your kinds words. Our theme definitely needed to be brought up-to-date and is going through that process now. We will make sure that the page template selection that has always been the theme’s strength will remain. How people interact with those templates will be made easier. There are many more improvements as well in the areas that people have come to expect Remix to be like other themes when it has not. WordPress 3.0 advanced menu support, multi-lingual support using WordPress PO files, short-codes and much more. We thank everyone for being so patient with the long development time it has taken to get to this point.

Brenda Krauss October 7, 2011

Randy, Can you tell me if the new 4.0 version will have a 3 column layout option for sub-pages?

Randy October 7, 2011

Brenda,

4.0 will support short codes. Short codes offer multi-column layout, 3 column being one of them. Currently Remix has a page template found at this url: http://wpremix.com/demo/inner-pages/i12/ in our DEMO which can be easily converted to a three column page by simply removing the banner over the existing three column layout below the banner.

Glenn Wallace February 12, 2012

What is the status on this? Did 4.0 die on the vine? Will there be updates to this theme?

Randy February 19, 2012

4.0 is being coded and very near completion. It is difficult to pin down an exact time as to the specific release date, but it will be this year (yes I know that is a wide window). The programmer and the owner are discussing compensation so that is the hold up, meaning it could be as soon as next week. The difference between 3.0 and 4.0 will be the same as the similarities between cats and dogs. This means that migration of existing site content will be about the same as any other theme completely different form your current theme activated.

A complete over-haul has been done to bring Remix more in line with emerging pseudo standards that include a robust back-end control panel and the ability to format your theme layout in the way a framework theme does.

Of course the largest differentiator of Remix from other themes has always been the large template assortments for creating pages and entire websites very quickly, this will remain unchanged. This was one of the single largest hold-ups for the re-coding to 4.0 since all of the templates had to be modified as well.

I hope this update will appease some who have all but given up on the theme, but it is here to stay.

This theme doesn’t work anymore. I have wordpress 3.4.1 installed and the template pages don’t load in the editor so there is no way to edit them. Big disapointment.

Terrie August 15, 2012

Hi Randy,

Just checking in for a progress report – anxious to see the new and improved version!

Thanks much!

Terrie

Mike August 15, 2012

So is this project dead? Time to consider moving to a different theme?

Serge September 5, 2012

Its been almost 7 months since the last update. What is the status of 4.0?

Thierry September 11, 2012

I am new to WordPress and I just bought Premix.
I read on “News & Blog” a new version is announced (post 2012) and over any exchange.
I’m worried because I want to use the latest versions of WordPress.
Thank you for your reply.

Randy September 11, 2012

Go ahead and use it . . . no one is stopping you, it works.

Terrie,

Go get the latest Tech update for WPRemix to be compatible with WP 3.4.2

We are still working on 4.0, it’s a completely new re-write so it’s really takes time. For faithful adherents to the theme there will be discounts but it will not be FREE.
