Wordpress 3.0.1
Remix 3.0
Host: GoDaddy (I don't know what platform it is)
http://www.getmoxiemarketing.com

I am frustrated by the closed post below in Approach Two about changing images on inner page six, which I want to do. If I delete what appears to be the existing image code in either the HTML editor or the template editor in WP, I lose all formatting (text appears in light blue and the section line disappears) I don't want to replace each image with the same name because I want to add more images and sections, and that so tedious. Isn't there a simpler way to replace images? Why do the default images have to be embedded in the code? It would be so much easier if I could just use the WP insert image feature without all this tedious replacement. I'm having the same challenge with the bullets in the steps on inner page 10. I want to lose those bullets and put images before each step. Any advice is appreciated (I am not skilled in any type of codiing/writing) Will version 4.0 be any easier?

Thanks!

--------

here are two ways to go here . . .

Approach ONE:

Simply create new images the exact same size as the present images, and name them exactly the same name, upload them to the location of the originals and answer "YES" to the question", Do you want to replace or over-write the originals?

There is however one problem with "Approach ONE". Notice that all of the images are not unique, some are duplicated. If you delete the duplicates you will be okay, but if you want to keep the total number of items or even want more, you will need to write or copy current CSS and modify it to have extra names to use different images. This is a longer approach to the solution than I used in my site where the same template was used, see the end result in the url below.

FYI: http://www.z-axisdesign.com/resources/service-brochures/

Approach TWO:

To get the results I wanted, I deleted the existing image code from the template and used WordPress's "Insert Image" function to put my icons immediately to the left of my text.

You will also need to tweak the settings under the "Advanced" section of the "Insert Image" area to give yourself the margin you want around your images and to move the images away from the text they will be sitting against immediately after you insert them.

You can also use your view source feature in your browser and borrow the code from my website's page if it is easier that way for you.

Hope this info helps.

NOTE: My site is best viewed using FireFox 3.6+, IE7/8 and Safari 4. IE6 is not supported.

[WPREMIX 3.0 on WP 3.0.1]

Under "Header Options" in WPREMIX 3, I can add a "Custom Link in Navigation Menu".

This is a nice feature, however, when I do, I have no way of re-ordering the Nav Menu. I know how to do this with pages I create (using the attributes "order number").

For example, I add "More Info" as a custom link to another page (Non-Wordpress), but it sits as the last item in the menu, when I want it to be 1st or 2nd in the menu.

How do I change the Nav Menu order?

Our PDF User Guide ( although in sore need of updating) covers this topic.

Try this . . .

When ever you want to execute any custom code or modifications you will need to use this switch described below.

[/REMIX]

Custom Code or Script <--- (nest your code here)

[REMIX]

SPECIAL NOTE: This will suspend the Remix code while your script loads. It's important to put what looks like the "/" closing slash first as this is the off switch function. Once your script executes, the switch [REMIX] will turn the theme code back on.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: In General because our code takes over the WordPress Editor Engine to use our theme's Send to Editor feature it is not recommended to also use the "WordPress" Attributes template also and can cause conflicts. Only use the Attributes template selector to create your Blog page and then leave it set for "Blog" on that page. It should be set for Default on all other pages.

I have a PHP script that works fine when using a custom template, and selecting it for a page, using "Attributes: Templates".

But when I paste the template code directly into the page editor, using the Remix, Add Template File, my PHP script doesn't seem to work. The script is included on the page, I can test it by pasting in a simple 'echo Test' line of code. But something goes wrong.

The whole script depends on the following:

$category = get_post_meta($posts[0]->ID, 'category', true);

As I said, it works fine when using just a Template file assigned to the page. But when I paste the entire template into the editor, via Remix, Add Template File, - it doesn't seem to "find" the post_meta info anymore. At least, I think that is the issue.

Hope that makes sense. I needed to paste the code into the editor for the client.

@jenniferk

The Design Tab was a feature of an earlier version of WordPress and was never a part of our theme. I must apologize for your confusion as our PDF User Guide is outdated and this reference to an earlier version of a WordPress feature needs to be removed. We have been waiting on our 4.0 release before updating the theme PDF Guide.

Please follow our guidelines for asking questions in the forum posted here in the sticky topics at the top of this forum: http://wpremix.com/support/topic.php?id=2361

As for your installation, here is a tech note that should help you understand how to install our theme correctly:
http://forum.wpremix.com/index.php?topic=1734.0

If you still have problems I will be watching the forum closely, oh yeah could you please open a new post of your own instead of appending to someone elses? This would be greatly appreciated and make my job easier maintaining the forum, thanks much.

Our files are fine and are downloaded every day to many other customers. You may need to get another extractor if yours is not working properly.

Hi Randy,

I tried several times to install wpremix 3 and the options tab would never appear. I reinstalled 2 and it worked. It seems like windows 10 extractor is recognizing several files as potentially harmful and won't include them. Any ideas. I would rather use 3 then 2 if I can. I am running wordpress 3.

Thanks

Hi Randy,

Thanks for your help thus far with everything.

http://brandbottle.com.au/?page_id=17
WP: 3.01

I have struggled to find this ad URL even using FireFox plugin Firebug.
The DIV-ID shows blog_content in firebug..
Image Adv 468x60. (at present it is an image that shows a B and 2 Facebook F's)

I have modified the ad image temporarily easily enough, but cannot locate the PHP file to modify the link.
I have looked in all versions of tpl_blog, single_blog php instances.
I thought it may be in WordPress but again I have come up empty handed.

I also searched the forum first, but couldn't find anything to assist.

Also if you use the All in ONE SEO (it's recommended) don't use our SEO theme options, keep them turned off as the conflict with one another. This will be fixed in our next release of Remix.

Also please install this patch to correct any SEO issues this bug causes:

http://forum.wpremix.com/index.php?topic=1802.0

Robbie,

This problem is easily solved . . . I really need the info asked for in these forum guidelines to better help:
http://wpremix.com/support/topic.php?id=2361.

For now, we will assume you are Running WPRemix 3.0 and WP 3.01 Here are all the reasons that cause the issue with the editor . . .

VERY IMPOPRTANT---> The WordPress "Add new Themes" feature cannot be used to install the WPRemix Theme.

Please perform each of these checks below:

IMPORTANT ==== Before you proceed please verify your server is using PHP 5.2 or better ==== IMPORTANT

If it is this, it must be changed by your HOST. If they will not change this, you are using a substandard service and should seek hosting elsewhere. This is minimum system requirement for the WPRemix Theme and many plug-ins for WordPress. PHP 4.0 was recently killed, but sometimes I still run across installations running the older version.

_________________________________ First Check________________________________________

SYMPTOM: Send to editor function is not working, button is greyed out or no content is sent to the editor.

IMPORTANT> DO NOT unzip the theme and install the entire UN-ZIPPED folder to your WordPress themes directory.
You must look inside the unzipped folder and upload the "WPREMIX3" directory to your themes folder in WordPress.

CORRECT path example: /wp-content/themes/wpremix3/

WRONG path example: /wp-content/themes/wpremix_3_single/wpremix3/

WRONG path example: /wp-content/themes/wpremix_3_multi_use/wpremix3/

ANYTHING different than the CORRECT path example above, the theme will not function properly.

_________________________________Second Check________________________________________

Install the "WP Security Scan" plug-in.

Then go to the "Security" menu it adds on the bottom left of the WordPress menus.

Under the Security menu click Scanner option.

Make sure all CHMODS (also known as permissions) are the same and they are not showing incorrect directory permissions.

This plug-in checks the most obvious "HOST Service" permissions settings but does not report or correct
"ALL" permissions. However many times this will correct your problem. If other permissions are still improperly set continue reading this thread to it's conclusion.

_________________________________ThirdCheck________________________________________

You cannot use both the "ATTRIBUTE" template selector and the WPRemix template selector under WordPress. Only use the Remix send to editor template button.

Please set your Attributes template selector to "DEFAULT". If you have created a "BLOG" page, leave the WordPress template selector set to "BLOG".

NOTE: You may need to recreate the pages that were made when using the "Attributes" template selector.

_________________________________TINY MCE Editor__________________________________

The Tiny MCE Editor plug-in has known conflicts with WPRemix, please deactivate and remove it. There may be other plug-ins that cause this problem but have not been identified yet since new plug-ins are added to the WordPress repository on almost a daily basis. Turning off all plug-ins temporarily and creating trying the "Send to Editor" button will identify if it is a plug-in or not. If after turning off all plug-ins the "Send to Editor" begins working, turn the plug-ins back on one at a time refreshing in between each plug-in to see which one is causing the "Send to Editor" problem.
************************************************* FINAL CONCLUSION *************************************************

If none of these corrective actions resolved your "Send to Editor" problem there is a strong possibility that your "HOST Server Permissions" are set incorrectly. Or you have the wrong version of PHP Installed, and many other server related problems. It is very important to select a professionally managed Host Server. We do not troubleshoot for any reason private/personal HOSTED installations of our theme and WordPress.

Permissions are entirely determined by the Host Service, and ultimately the responsibility of the Host Service and End User to understand and correct.

Permissions are a variable that has nothing to do with WPRemix or any other theme for that matter other than they must be set correctly in order for a WordPress Installation to work properly.

Please contact your Hosting Service to correct your permissions required to run WordPress.

If TEAM Remix is required to set your permissions for your WordPress installation to function properly there will be a "Pre-Paid" service fee via PayPal required.

If you feel it is required for TEAM Remix to correct your permissions or troubleshoot your server further please contact me at the following email address: support@wpremix.com

Oooops, never mind. I was looking into the plugin section, not the appearance section. So WPREMIX is sitting right there, ready to be activated!

Nevertheless, i would like to know the position with respect to the license thing. Do i need to place any files anywhere to make the installation appear legit (which it is!).

I just upgraded from the single user license to the multi-user license, and installed another wordpress/wpremix website on my virtual server.

However, i don't see the theme appearing inside the wordpress admin.

Is the software preventing the new theme from coming up, because of the single user license? When i upgraded, i only got a license file, and a code in the email. Do i need to place this anywhere particular?

(Right now i have copied the wpremix3/ folder to the appropriate place, and set the permissions correctly)

mequel,

Hey I only support you, if you create a situation whether intentional or by accident where I can't help there's nothing I can do about it . . . the ball is clearly in your court on that one.

You might want to take a look at this plug-in for future development issues related to going live . . .
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/maintenance-mode/

Okay here's what's happening, the image with the two bottles is pushing your menu over because it extends too low into the navbar.

You can fix this a couple of ways . . .

_______________________________ FIX ONE ____________________________

Edit this file ---> header.css (line 31)

}
#header2 .h_left img {
margin-bottom:3px; <--- (change this code to this . . . . margin-top:-20px;)
}

_______________________________ FIX TWO ____________________________

Open the header2.php file and add the same code (margin-top:-20px;) above, as "In-line" CSS, the code will look like this . . . at the end of the existing code in the header file:

<img alt="brandbottle.com.au" src="http://brandbottle.com.au/wp-content/themes/wpremix3/images/logo2.png" style="margin-top: -20px;">

NOTE: for those who may not know it . . . a "Negative" Margin setting will pull an item in the direction in which it's placed. I.E. in this issue putting a positive margin on the bottom or more padding would not have fixed this problem.

In Closing: Making a smaller image in the vertical dimension would also have fixed the problem but it looks like you have the image the way and proportions you want it to be already, so I did not recommend that.

Make sure you look at it in IE7/8, FireFox and Safari to be sure the fix is across the board in all browsers. IE like to take slightly different dimensions when making these kinds of changes.

Hi,

Sure, I can understand you not 'budging' on the URL thing however when a site is not live because it has a problem then I am not going to make it live! I also clearly stated this in my question.

I have pushed the unfinished website onto the live server for you to look at.
I do not have any plugins. This is straight 'out of the box' as I have only made minor changes to backgrounds of the header and background.

Sophie,

As much as I would like to help you, this is not even close to being related to our theme so I really have no Idea where to even start looking.

The only thing I could even remotely suggest is to make sure you are not using anything other than the UTF-8 settings at your host server for editing purposes. If you give your host a call they can tell you how to make sure it is set correctly. . . once it is, if this is the issue your text should return to normal.

Our theme does not have any language localization code in it so it is definitely not Remix, sorry.

Please when asking questions in the future to provide the info requested in this post: http://wpremix.com/support/topic.php?id=2361

This info as simple and mundane as it may at first appear to the casual observer, is really help to me. Not everyone is up to date with Remix and WordPress and I really have no way of knowing unless you give me this info in each post.

Yep you hit the bulls-eye with your fix but I don't always recommend that as it makes an assumption that you are not going to ever go back to another color scheme or even the default for that matter. it's really a personal call for each customer.

The reason some systems see it and others don't is all speed related somewhere along the Internet connection and back to the individual computer. Faster systems and connections as well as the traffic, if fast at the time you are surfing means you most likely won't see the flash.

Slower says it all . . .

On the subject of the guidelines, it's this info that's critical for me to help properly:

WPRemix 3.0
WordPress 3.01
UNIX or (Win Hosting which ever it is)

These three simple things really tell me a lot and saves three to four other questions that I cannot assume about your setup. An example that happens all the time is . . .

A guy tells me he's having problems . . . (this tells me a lot of nothing, right? But it happens!)

So I ask what version of Remix and WordPress are you running . . . (he says 2.3 Remix and 3.0 Wordpress)

Well, guess what these two are not compatible, problem solved immediately if he had gave me this info to begin with. This happens more than you think (who knows why, not me) but it does.

Also if he said he was on a Windows Server . . . our 2.3 Remix version used PHP short code which is not compatible with all windows host servers. This has changed with our 3.0 Remix release but again not everyone has upgraded for their own reasons.

So that's just a taste of what the three things I need each time you post can help me determine immediately.

In the near future I hope to make your current configuration part of your Forum profile, but the customer will still need to make sure this info is kept current.

Not ranting just giving a detailed explanation for the few people here in the forum who think I'm a control freak on a power trip, when in actuality it is their lack of understanding of why I ask for the info in the first place.

This is further exasperated by the fact that every new person who joins the forum has to get this explanation from me again like the endless loop Bill Murray found himself in in the movie Ground Hog Day.

So thanks for caring enough to ask about the guidelines again, this is not always the case.

Thanks Randy!

Gotta remember to use firebug as a general reference....still have to hunt for some things. This time the code that needed to be changed was a few lines down from what firebug showed us.
We are slowly coming along. Learning CSS isn't all that bad, it just take a little time. Thanks again!

Re: posting guidelines: We thought we followed the guidelines when we posted.... with the link, description etc.... what did we miss? We want to post correctly, its just that....well you know most techs are "slow" when it comes to understanding directions.
Let us know, and thanks again...

One last thing... we changed (or thought we did) the CSS per your instructions regarding the "default color flashing issue" and we seem to be still be getting it. This is going to sound strange but on one pc we don't get it, all the rest we do? Thought it was a caching issue at first, but we get it on new systems too.

Hello all... We have downloaded firebug to help design and administer our WP Remix theme. So far it seems wonderful! We are stuck on one tiny part that seems like it would be simple, but we must be overlooking it. We are trying to learn as much CSS stuff as we can in a very short time. The site is:
http://computerpro1.com

In the FAQ's link, we used WP Remix "Misc 4" template. Changed the words with no problem. Changed the color of the little bullet to our color scheme with no problem. But.... the Rollover link defaults to "orange". We want it to be our blue color #00aeef. Firebug shows its inherited from "li" which in turn shows: color-black.css line 1038. It does show the orange color there. We changed it in firebug and no change in the preview. So we changed the CSS file and uploaded it... still no change?? Are we missing something?
Thanks
Terry

1. WordPress 3.0.1
2. Remix 3.0
3. Not sure what kind of host I have, sorry.

4 .http://www.thesneedhouse.com/?page_id=453

5. I have added a blog page and was able to remove the ads from the sidebar thanks to this forum. However, there are these weird white blocks surrounding the sidebar on the blog page now. I would like to eliminate the four horizontal bars and the one vertical one. Can someone tell me how to get rid of those?

Hey Josh,

Do you want all of the lighter elements gone such as the underscores or just the larger vertical block on the left?

FYI, and do me a favor . . . post the info required in our guidelines so I can better support you, here are those guidelines: http://wpremix.com/support/topic.php?id=2361

Don't worry, everyone misses them posted in the "Sticky Topics" at the top of the forum for some reason.

Sorry we have to do this in two parts but it's a lot more work one way and not so much the other, depending on your answer to my question above.

The error you are describing is not normal for our template as it is provided.

Here is the Home Page 9 template from our on-line demo: http://wpremix.com/demo/?page_id=129

As you can see the menu is not floating right, therefore there must be an error in your page or a plug-in causing the issue.

The Quote below is from our Forum Guidelines for asking questions:

quote > *ALL* Questions about an error in your page *REQUIRE* a URL. < end quote

Typically troubleshooting an error that is not caused by our theme is an unsupported problem. But we will on a time permitting basis, attempt to determine what we can in order to help you.

We "MUST" have a url in order to probe your page ourselves to be able to even begin to tell you what might correct your problem.

"That is why we do not budge on the provide us with a url thing".

Without the url we can only guess at what you must be looking at.
